Richarlison has taken to social media to praise his teammate Yerry Mina after his heroics during Everton’s 3-1 win over Burnley on Monday night.

The Blues game from a goal down to complete a routing of Sean Dyche’s side on home soil thanks to a Michael Keane header, an Andros Townsend wonder goal and a silky solo run from Demarai Gray.

Whilst the spotlight is deservedly on new signings Townsend and Gray for their fast impact in Everton colours, Yerry Mina proved to be an unsung hero from the victory.

It may have been his central defensive partner that made it onto the scoresheet, but the Colombian won nine aerial duels during the contest (Whoscored).

Ben Mee and Ben Godfrey were second-best to Mina with five duels won each.

He also made two clearances and two interceptions in what marked an encouraging performance from the defensive bulwark.

Mina took to social media to express his delight at the victory and being back in the side – with talismanic forward Richarlison taking to the comments section on Instagram to suggest that Mina is the club’s best defender.

‘No Yerry no win hehe best defender (sic)’ read a response from Richarlison’s official Instagram account (via TBR).

Mina’s performance certainly marked one to be proud of, and there is plentiful cause for praise from Richarlison.

His match-leading statistic is a sight to behold and marks a potent renaissance from the Colombian.

With 10 points from their opening four games, Everton have made an encouraging start and will undoubtedly rely on the defender further to bolster their options ahead of future tests.
