Everton enjoyed a convincing 3-0 win over Crystal Palace last weekend as Frank Lampard’s side put an end to their bad run of form having lost their three prior games.

Two players that made a big impact on the game for the Toffees were Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who scored the opening goal of the match, and Alex Iwobi, who assisted the Englishman’s goal and also supplied the assist for Dwight McNeil’s goal.

Speaking to Football Insider, pundit Noel Whelan had some encouraging words to say about the two players and how important Iwobi has been for Lampard this season.

“It is a result that has been on its way for Everton, I think they needed a good, convincing win like that,” he said.

“Iwobi just seems to be thriving in that position now. He looks like he has that belief and that confidence about his game.

“His assists show the good form that he is actually in. It’s good that you have someone in there who is forward-thinking.

“It helps the forward line, it will definitely help Dominic Calvert-Lewin, having someone close to him who he can feed off.

“Look, stats don’t lie and he has obviously been in a good run of form playing in a position that is benefitting everybody.“

Focusing on Iwobi, the Nigerian is one of the four players in Lampard’s squad to start all 12 of Everton’s league games.

Having made more key passes (19) and passes into the 18-yard box (14) than any of his teammates, this highlights just how effective he is in an attacking sense and why someone like Calvert-Lewin can benefit from having someone like Iwobi creating goalscoring opportunities for him, as was the case against Palace.

Moving forward, if the duo can stay fit for the remainder of the season, this will surely be a creative and deadly duo that could fire Everton into the top half of the table and make them forget about any possibility of being in another relegation battle.
