# Abdoulaye Doucoure Targeting More Goals After Netting at Fulham

Everton summer signing [Abdoulaye Doucoure](https://readeverton.com/2020/02/11/former-everton-target-doucoure-reveals-he-can-leave-watford-in-the-summer/) has revealed the bold extent of his ambitions after netting his [first goal for the club](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/abdoulaye-doucoure/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/127187/verein/29) in a [3-2 thriller](https://www.evertonfc.com/news/1905026/everton-midfielder-doucoure-sets-new-personal-goal) against Fulham at the weekend – insisting that he wants many more.

The French midfielder, [signed from Watford in September](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/abdoulaye-doucoure/transfers/spieler/127187) after their relegation last season, capped a fine defensive midfield display with a close-ranged headed goal on the stroke of half-time from a Lucas Digne cross.

That goal may well prove to be a catalyst for Doucoure, who has spoken of his desire to score more consistently for the Toffees in comments offered to the [club’s official website](https://www.evertonfc.com/news/1905026/everton-midfielder-doucoure-sets-new-personal-goal). The 27-year-old said:

> It didn’t matter how we played, we needed to come back with three points after a difficult time. To score three goals in an away game is a very good sign for the future.
>
> It felt good to score and it was very important for us. I worked hard in training to score my first goal. I was trying and trying and when you work hard, especially in this team, you get your rewards.
>
> I worked hard during the international break to come back to my best level. That goal will help me a lot and I can score more goals to help the team. That is why Everton brought me here.
>
> This goal and performance will help me a lot to settle even more at this club.

Everton began the season with [four successive league victories](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fc-everton/spielplan/verein/29) but then hit a [four-game winless run](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fc-everton/spielplan/verein/29) before their three-point haul at Craven Cottage last weekend.

Despite being more accustomed to a [deeper-lying role](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/abdoulaye-doucoure/leistungsdaten/spieler/127187), these are encouraging words from Doucoure.

His intentions are emblematic of his own impressive work ethic and desire to help the team, and any deeper-lying offensive boost can only be a good thing for Ancelotti’s side.

With luck, the best may well be yet to come from the 27-year-old.
