# Allardyce believes Everton can break Top Six – is he right?

Sam Allardyce believes that Everton have a golden opportunity to break the Top Six this season, and they must take it with both hands.

The Premier League’s elite group of clubs could be in jeopardy this season, with a number of outfits potentially on the decline. Chelsea are in a transitional period under inexperienced manager Frank Lampard and burdened by a transfer embargo, while Manchester United haven’t hit the ground running under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

With Arsenal also very precarious at the back, former Toffees manager Allardyce believes that Everton won’t get a better chance of breaking through that glass ceiling than this season.

[Talking to talkSPORT](https://talksport.com/football/595781/premier-league-news-gossip-newcastle-everton/), ex-England manager said:

> I think Everton should break into the top six and if they’re going to break in, this is the season to do it.

> You’ve got the difficult situation at Chelsea and I feel at Manchester United as well.

> They’ve trimmed their squad down to the smallest number of experienced players I’ve probably ever seen.

> I think Man United might find breaking in a bit of a struggle, so will Chelsea, so that gives an opening and an opportunity for a team like Everton.

> There are probably only three or four players who still play on a regular basis from when I was there for a short period.

> They’ve changed the team that much and have spent heavily in the market again.

> So I expect Everton to break into the top six.

### Read Everton Verdict

I wouldn’t say I particularly agree with Allardyce, but equally I don’t disagree either. Everton are at the point where they need to kick on and attempt to realise their ambition, after years of hoping to break back in and not doing so.

If Marco Silva can organise his side correctly, they do stand a really strong chance, but they’ll face further competition from the likes of Leicester and Wolves, who will both also fancy their chances at doing the same.

Everton have the personnel, it all comes down to application and consistency, and hopefully the club can strike a balance that will see the club really mount a challenge.
