# Ancelotti targets Napoli captain Insigne for Everton January swoop

Carlo Ancelotti is interested in signing Napoli captain Lorenzo Insigne for Everton, according to reports.

Alongside fellow Napoli stars Piotr Zielinski and Kalidou Koulibaly, the Italian coach is speculated to have registered an interest in several of his former players, with a number of whom he’d like to bring with him to the Premier League.

Ancelotti was sacked by Napoli at the beginning of December, and several weeks later he was chosen to succeed Marco Silva at Goodison Park.

Having been promised substantial funds to spend by majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri, Ancelotti may wish to make a big splash in the January market, and his former captain at the San Paolo could be the man to do it with.

Le 10 Sport ([via Inside Futbol](https://www.insidefutbol.com/2019/12/27/carlo-ancelotti-looking-for-reunion-with-attacker-at-goodison-park/446818/)) claim that Ancelotti is considering a move for Insigne to kick off his January transfer plans for Everton.

The 28-year old, who came through Napoli’s academy, is believed to be interested in a new challenge away from the Partenopei.

However, so far Napoli have refused to baulk and let their star asset go, and it doesn’t seem likely that any potential offer that isn’t ridiculously large will be able to tempt Aurelio De Laurentiis into letting the Italy international go.

### Read Everton Verdict

I’d love to see Everton sign someone of Lorenzo Insigne’s quality in January. Insigne is a very good player, and he would add an entire new creative dimension to the Toffees’ attack, as well as that spark that the side need.

However, I would be extremely surprised if Everton could convince him to come to Goodison Park, and if they could convince Napoli into letting him go.

At this point I think it is difficult not to see a pattern of Napoli players being linked with the club and not jump to the logical conclusion that this is simple paper talk and lazy speculation. However, if Ancelotti really is keen, then I hope Moshiri backs him financially.
