Ronald Koeman has made his views clear on Barkley, as the Everton boss insisted that Barkley will be Everton’s key player as he ushers in a new era for Everton, he went as far to say that he is looking to build his team around Barkley in an interview with the ECHO last month.

It has not all been well for Barkley though, as Koeman admitted that the midfielder does need to improve if he has a desire of being the man to lead the Blues. Gareth Barry, Ross’ teammate has said that he should be aiming to reach the levels of consistency shown by Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard during their time in the Premier League.

Ross Barkley, however, inconsistent his recent form may have been, has proven that he can produce moments of brilliance. He had a blistering start to last season’s campaign, bettering his goal tally from the previous season within 6 weeks.

Another player rumoured to be getting the offer of a new contract soon is Romelu Lukaku, in a twist of fate which will see him commit to Everton after a turbulent summer linking him with many clubs.
