Besic shown red for throwing chewing gum

Everton midfielder Muhamed Besic was shown a red card for throwing chewing gum whilst playing for Bosnia-Herzegovina, report The Independent.

The 22-year-old reacted angrily after Andorran midfielder Josep Manuel Ayala challenged him.

Ayala ran off before Besic could react, so instead, the Everton midfielder took his chewing gum out of his mouth and threw it, but instead he threw it at Victor Rodriguez Soria.

Besic’s bizarre reaction was then greeted by a furious bunch of Andorra players before being sent off.

Soria also received a red card in the incident despite appearing to be the innocent party.

Fortunately for Besic, Bosnia-Herzegovina were 3-0 up when the Everton man was dismissed just after the hour mark.

The scoreline remained the same until the final whistle, with former Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko amongst the goals.

Although the Bosnia side, featuring the likes of Asmir Begovic, picked up all three points, they need to win their final two games to stand any chance of qualifying for next year’s European Championships.
