# Besic sustains potentially season-ending injury

According to concerning [reports](https://www.fokus.ba/sport/reprezentacija/lose-vijesti-iz-engleske-besic-propusta-pola-kvalifikacija/419102/) from out in Bosnia, Muhamed Besic has reportedly suffered a serious long-term knee injury and will be out for half of the season at the very least.

Besic sustained the injury during his side’s friendly match against fellow Premier League competitors Manchester United in Wayne Rooney’s testimonial match.

The signs were there for a serious injury as Besic went down clutching his knee but it now looks as though the injury to the Bosnian midfielder could be worse than what was first feared.

It’s now obvious that Besic will need to have an operation on his knee but the consequences for his injury could prove to be extremely costly to both him, his country and The Toffees.

He has been a regular fixture in pre-season for Ronald Koeman’s side and the knee injury could prevent him from kicking another ball this season.

Since his arrival in the summer of 2014, Besic has really burst onto the scene and impressed many with his hard-hitting performances in the middle of the park.
