# Besiktas captain Yilmaz pleads for Tosun to re-join his former club

Basiktas captain Burak Yilmaz has pleaded with Cenk Tosun to re-join his former club from Everton this month.

The 28-year old forward has been frequently linked with a return to Turkey over the last few weeks, with [reports this week claiming](https://readeverton.com/2020/01/07/cenk-tosun-edges-closer-to-besiktas-loan-return/) that he is edging closer to a move.

The Toffees are willing to listen to offers for Tosun, who they signed from Besiktas in 2018 for £27million, as he has fallen down the pecking order at Goodison Park.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Richarlison and Moise Kean are all ahead of him, while Carlo Ancelotti is [reportedly on the market](https://bit.ly/2QAEhAr) for a new frontman.

Now Yilmaz has made it clear that Tosun is wanted back in the Super Lig, despite Besiktas president Ahmet Nur Cebi [having ruled out a move](https://readeverton.com/2019/12/11/besiktas-rules-out-january-move-for-tosun/) for the club’s former forward last month.

Quoted by Turkish outlet Star ([via Liverpool Echo](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/cenk-tosun-everton-transfer-news-17530810)), Yilmaz said:

> All I have to say to Cenk Tosun is – Come to Besiktas.[https://readeverton.com/2020/01/04/tosun-appears-set-for-crystal-palace-loan/](https://readeverton.com/2020/01/04/tosun-appears-set-for-crystal-palace-loan/)

[Crystal Palace have also been linked](https://readeverton.com/2020/01/04/tosun-appears-set-for-crystal-palace-loan/) with Tosun this past month, meaning that the Turkey international may have a number of options to pick from as he considers his future.

### Read Everton Verdict

At this point I would be blown away if Cenk Tosun doesn’t return to Besiktas. [Sky Sports report](https://twitter.com/skysportspl/status/1214933565970026497?s=21) that Palace are in talks for the forward, but there have been so many outlets reporting on Tosun to Besiktas that I just can’t imagine it going through.

Of course, the reports could also be more hopeful than anything else, with Tosun held in high regard by Besiktas fans. Turkish media isn’t always the most reliable, but the sheer volume of reports would make me feel that a Turkey return is inevitable.

If it doesn’t happen and he moves to Crystal Palace instead, I think the Eagles will have landed a player who can offer a lot to them. He is the central figurehead they could do with to sharpen their attack, and he may find his attributes are more suited to Roy Hogdson’s side.

For Everton’s part, it seems as though Tosun will only leave on loan. Many clubs won’t be able to take on the forward’s high wage demands AND a pricey transfer fee, so a loan seems the only realistic course of action for most interested clubs.
