# Burnley consider signing Niasse to replace Nahki Wells

Burnley are considering signing Oumar Niasse on loan until the end of the season, [according to Sky Sports News](https://www.skysports.com/transfer-centre).

Reported on [Sky Sports’ Transfer Centre this morning (10:09)](https://www.skysports.com/transfer-centre), it is claimed that the Clarets could look to Niasse if they wish to replace Nahki Wells, who left Turf Moor for Bristol City on a permanent deal yesterday.

[Telegraph Sport reporter Mike McGrath](https://twitter.com/mcgrathmike/status/1223183859816247297) has supported the story, with Everton looking to offload the Senegal striker before tonight’s deadline ([Liverpool Echo](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/everton-duo-oumar-niasse-cuco-17645773)).

The 29-year old has fallen out of favour on Merseyside, and alongside defender Cuco Martina, has been deemed surplus to requirements by Carlo Ancelotti.

Niasse has only made three substitute appearances this season, and although he has only played 19 minutes of first team football, the former Lokomotiv Moscow man has failed to impress, scoring a measly [5.97 average rating on WhoScored](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/111141/Show/Oumar-Niasse).

[The Athletic reported yesterday](https://theathletic.com/1569718/2020/01/30/january-transfer-deadline-day/) that Everton’s approach for the remainder of the transfer window was that they needed to trim their wage bill ahead of a future rebuild in the summer, although the club’s desire to shift Niasse this month, with the forward set to see his contract expire at the end of the season anyway, indicates to me that the club could potentially look to get business done before the end of the day.

That being said, [The Athletic](https://theathletic.com/1569718/2020/01/30/january-transfer-deadline-day/) claim that it is “unlikely” that Everton can bring anyone in before tonight’s 11pm deadline. Everton [still have a desire to shift Cuco Martina](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/everton-duo-oumar-niasse-cuco-17645773) before the end of the day, and should the Blues move both Niasse and Martina on, it will be interesting to see if the club can pull any late business off at the death.
