# Cahill returns to Finch Farm to earn his coaching badges – Fan Reactions

Everton fan favourite Tim Cahill has returned to Finch Farm to complete his coaching badges.

Many fans have been tipping the Australian to eventually become Everton manager at some point down the line, and Cahill has moved a step further to that end becoming an actual possibility.

The 39-year old, who played over 270 times for the club, has been back for the past few weeks as he works towards earning his Uefa A-licence, [reports the Liverpool Echo](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/tim-cahill-makes-everton-return-17027432).

Cahill retired in March after leaving his last club, Jamshedpur in the Indian Super League, and is now working with a variety of youth groups at Everton’s academy.

The Australia national team record goalscorer has become an icon of the David Moyes era, alongside his good friend and former teammate Mikel Arteta, and his return to Merseyside has seen many fans react excitedly on social media.

### Read Everton Verdict

I think it is great for Tim Cahill to be back at the club. Of course his ambition is to earn his coaching badges so his aim is to help himself and not the club, but with him simply being a presence at the training ground, he will likely rub off on some of the younger players.

Cahill is many fans’ dream managerial candidates, although he isn’t mine. I loved Tim too much as a player to see him handed the reigns, because I don’t want to see the fan base inevitably turn on him when things go awry. That being said, I must admit that a small part of me would love to see him in the dugout for the Blues.

Either way I’m happy for him that he is making steps to become a manager, and I’m really pleased he has come home to do so.
