# Cenk Tosun Joins Besiktas on loan from Everton

Everton striker [Cenk Tosun](https://readeverton.com/2021/01/30/rc-celta-join-race-for-everton-striker-cenk-tosun/) has[completed a loan move](https://www.skysports.com/transfer/news/11671/12205000/everton-transfer-news-cenk-tosun-completes-besiktas-loan-move) to Turkish side Besiktas, keeping him in Istanbul until at least the end of the season.

The move was announced late last night in a move which sees Tosun return to his former side in the Turkish capital.

The poacher joined Everton in 2018 for [£27 million](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11671/11196542/cenk-tosun-joins-everton-from-besiktas-in-27m-deal) under the reign of Sam Allardyce, but the marksman has failed to live up to expectations at Goodison Park.

He has made [just five appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/cenk-tosun/profil/spieler/45671) this season and most recently scored in a 2-1 FA Cup victory over Rotherham.

The 29-year-old experienced international scored[41 times in 96 games](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/cenk-tosun/profil/spieler/45671) for Besiktas and will be hoping to revitalise that scintillating form.

Tosun completed a similar six-month loan spell with fellow Premier League side Crystal Palace, but only scored [one goal in five appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/cenk-tosun/profil/spieler/45671)before a horrific knee injury endured in a training session curtailed the rest of his season.

Tosun was recalled by Everton as a result, and has failed to make an impression at Goodison Park ever since.

The hitman has previously [been linked with moves](https://readeverton.com/2021/01/30/rc-celta-join-race-for-everton-striker-cenk-tosun/) to CSKA Moscow and La Liga side RC Celta but was most keen to return to Turkish football – a move he has now secured.

Following the loan departures of Cenk Tosun and Ellis Simms, Carlo Ancelotti now has no natural cover for Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Richarlison is the most likely candidate to deputise as a striker given his [past experience playing there,](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/richarlison/profil/spieler/378710) but Tosun’s move does raise question marks over the squad’s depth.
