# Davies’ U21s performances spur Everton game-time calls – Fan Reaction

Tom Davies is one of the most divisive players in the Everton squad. Many fans rate the 21-year-old as a burgeoning young talent who needs minutes to continue progressing, while equally others believe he isn’t worth his salt.

Certainly his game time has decreased in recent times, with the midfielder featuring a lot less under Marco Silva last season than he did the season before under all of Ronald Koeman, David Unsworth and Sam Allardyce.

Following two successive performances for England Under-21s in which the midfielder impressed, there has been suggestions that he could feature more for Everton this season in a deeper, more defensive role.

England U21s manager Aidy Boothroyd had this to say on Davies’ recent performances:

> I thought Tom Davies was outstanding.
>
> They’re not playing him at his club and to give those two performances was excellent.
>
> If they gave him a holding role I think he’d be really good at that.

Davies is currently considered as cover at Everton, having not earned a loan move away in order to provide Silva with options while he waits for his opportunity to impress.

Several fans took to Twitter to discuss Davies immediate first-team inclusion and whether Silva should give him the chance to impress on Merseyside.

### Read Everton Verdict

I’d personally like to see Davies receive more minutes for Everton, but I’m not how and where. I do think that the midfielder is naturally more talented as a defensive player, but there is limited scope for him to feature prominently in that position.

Either way he needs to establish what type of player he is and where he wants to play. If he keeps his consistency at a high level then he’s sure to feature more often.

I rate Davies, and I think with the right coaching and the correct attitude and application he can be a real start for the Blues.
