# Defender flying in to complete Everton transfer

Lucas Digne has been given permission to leave the Barcelona training camp in the United States in order to complete a move to Everton.

[Marca claims](https://www.marca.com/en/football/barcelona/2018/07/29/5b5e214fe2704ed38f8b45f9.html) that a deal in excess of €20 million has been agreed to take the player to Goodison Park.

Everton have been heavily linked with a move for a left-sided defender this summer, with Kieran Tierney also linked with a move.

Barcelona had been hoping to keep the player to provide competition for Jordi Alba, but he has been allowed to leave to pursue regular game time elsewhere.

The 25-year-old started just eight times in La Liga last season but is likely to come and be considered as Everton’s first choice.

The La Liga champions have been looking to move on fringe players over the summer in an attempt to trim both their squad and their wage bill.
