# Depay and Schneiderlin allowed to join Everton in January

[Jose Mourinho has said](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-4030900/Manchester-United-misfits-Memphis-Depay-Morgan-Schneiderlin-free-leave-Everton-January.html) that he will allow both Memphis Depay and Morgan Schneiderlin to leave Manchester United in January.

The pair haven’t started any of United’s Premier League games this season, and look likely to be left out of any future squads the Portuguese manager may draw up. This has sparked speculation of their exit from Old Trafford, leading to comments made by Mourinho. who has said that he will be ‘open to offers’ for the pair, and will not stand in their way of leaving, even to ‘rival teams’.

Koeman, who previously worked with Schneiderlin at Southampton, has always been keen to bring the player to Goodison. It is understood that would be a permanent transfer, while Memphis Depay will be brought to Merseyside on an initial loan deal.

Mourinho may have to accept losses on both players, with them both costing £25m each in the summer before his arrival, both signed by Louis Van Gaal.

Koeman has been actively recruiting both staff and players throughout the season, with Steve Walsh – Everton’s recently appointed Head of Recruitment and Director of Football – adding to his backroom staff recently. Koeman is understood to have been left unsatisfied with the Summer Window and will have funds available to strengthen in January.
