# Digne declares Everton squad will support Gomes throughout recovery

Lucas Digne has declared that the Everton squad will support Andre Gomes throughout his recover process.

The Portugal international suffered a fractured dislocation of his ankle against Tottenham last weekend, and he now faces a lengthy period on the sidelines at Goodison Park.

Digne, who was also Gomes’ teammate at Barcelona, claims that all of Everton will band together to offer the midfielder all the support he needs.

As [reported by evertonfc.com](https://www.evertonfc.com/news/1483496/digne-i-know-unbelievable-gomes-will-return-stronger), Digne said:

> We are with him and we are always together. He is an unbelievable player and an unbelievable man.
>
> I am not worried about his mentality and I am sure he will come back stronger. I know he will come back stronger.
>
> He has been playing so well over the past year. He is a big player for us. A great player.

Digne also praised his side for showing resilience in the face of adversory against Spurs, claiming that many players had been impacted by the severity of Gomes’ injury, yet they still were able to find a late equaliser. Digne continued:

> I tried to speak with everybody, to stay focussed, but it is not an easy thing.
>
> You have to switch on and forget what happened, and stay focussed on our job, because it is part of our job.
>
> You have to fight for the badge.
>
> You see Cenk, he was so upset, and then he scores a perfect goal. It is something that can happen in football and we are so sad \[for Andre\].
>
> But we know he will come back and be stronger.

### Read Everton Verdict

We’re bound to see plenty of these type of stories in the coming weeks, with each of the the Everton squad sure to offer their support for Gomes.

It was a horrific moment for sure, but one that will likely bring the squad together, so comments like this are to be expected.

Digne is a class act though, as are most of the Everton squad, and I feel comfortable with this group of players acting as pillars of support for Gomes as he works his way back to full fitness.

Most of the recovery will be physical, but also a great deal will be psychological, and Andre will need all the help he can get.
