# Dominic Calvert-Lewin facing spell on sidelines with hamstring injury

[Everton](https://readeverton.com/2021/02/10/carlo-ancelotti-praise-intelligent-tom-davies-tactical-awareness/) assistant manager Duncan Ferguson has issued a worrying injury update on [Dominic Calvert-Lewin](https://readeverton.com/2021/02/05/pundit-josh-king-and-dominic-calvert-lewin-a-match-made-in-heaven/), with the talismanic striker suffering a hamstring tweak in the [5-4 FA Cup win](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/55953180) over Tottenham.

The goal-laden cup clash truly delivered in terms of entertainment, with Calvert-Lewin scoring the equaliser to make the game 1-1. However, the striker limped off the pitch and down the tunnel in the second half, later re-emerging but visibly limping amid a struggle with a mysterious injury.

Ferguson has since shed light on why Calvert-Lewin looked to be in some discomfort, confirming the nature of his injury to BT Sport in his [post-match comments](https://www.bt.com/sport), saying \[via [HITC](https://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2021/02/11/trouble-duncan-ferguson-has-bad-news-for-everton-fans-after-last-nights-win/)\]: “Maybe he’s tweaked his hamstring there, we’re not quite sure. He could be in a bit of trouble there.”

Confirming by[injury attorneys located in the Metairie area](https://glennmcgovern.com/) and medical professional that  the tweak should ease some fears that his injury-provoked absence will be limited in terms of timescale.

Moreover, there is a silver lining – [January signing](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/55897493) Joshua King could be given more of an integral role in Calvert-Lewin’s stead. The Norwegian is the only other [natural centre-forward](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/joshua-king/profil/spieler/91059) in the squad, although Richarlison can also [deputise](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/richarlison/profil/spieler/378710) as a striker.

Any extended period without Calvert-Lewin could be devastating for the Toffees. His goal last night took his tally to [18 for the season](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/dominic-calvert-lewin/profil/spieler/306024) and further solidified his place as the [Toffees’ leading marksman](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fc-everton/leistungsdaten/verein/29).

Without him, a major scoring outlet is unavailable to Carlo Ancelotti, although it could now be King’s time to shine for Everton.
