# Duncan Castles Confirms Everton Stance on Dominic Calvert-Lewin

Podcaster Duncan Castles has delivered insider claims on [Everton](https://readeverton.com/2021/06/24/virals-fabrizio-romano-claims-everton-to-miss-out-on-lucien-favre/) and their stance on cashing in on Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

The Toffees talisman found himself in an indomitable vein of form at Everton last season, managing to score [16 goals in 33](https://www.premierleague.com/players/9576/Dominic-Calvert-Lewin/overview)Premier League outings.

That form has reportedly attracted [interest from Arsenal,](https://twitter.com/EvertonNewsFeed/status/1407308375373844488)with the Gunners eyeing Calvert-Lewin as an ideal young home-grown reinforcement in attack.

Speaking on the [Transfer Window Podcast](https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/the-transfer-window/id1254836234) \[22/6/21\], the Times journalist and podcaster claimed Everton chiefs are open to a sale:

> “The guidance I have, is that Everton think Calvert-Lewin is very valuable and they wonder whether he’s reached the peak of his development,” Castles said.

> “My personal view, and it’s not relevant is that I see him as still improving and I like what I see, but experts within Everton have a sense that he’s reached his peak.”

> “If they’re going to cash in, this is the time. If they get a serious offer, they would seriously consider selling him.”

For Everton fans, news seems to be going from bad to worse.

Everton are [nearing](https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/everton-still-want-rafa-benitez-8q80093qh) the [unpopular appointment](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-9699151/Angry-Everton-fans-protest-potential-Rafael-Benitez-appointment-banners-outside-Goodison-Park.html) of ex-Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez and losing the club’s star striker would only add fuel to a mounting fire of fan fury.

At just 24, Calvert-Lewin still has plenty of room to develop in the next few seasons and the suggestion he has peaked presently feels premature.

Whilst he has certainly broken boundaries and shown immense talent in the 2020/21 campaign, next season will be a better litmus test of whether he indeed peaked.

Under a new coach, his technical abilities could be refined further, and he could be moulded into a complete striker.

Currently playing deputy to Harry Kane for England at the Euros, Calvert-Lewin had to muscle past other home-grown competitors such as Danny Ings and Ollie Watkins for a place as a striker in the squad.

His ability will scarcely be disputed, but Everton’s willingness to let him go is far more contentious. Only an irresistibly gargantuan offer should be considered in order to invest further in the squad.
