# Dyche admit Everton target McNeil will outgrow Burnley

Burnley boss Sean Dyche has conceded that the club could be forced to sell reported Everton target Dwight McNeil in the future.

[TEAMtalk reported last month](https://www.teamtalk.com/news/exclusive-leicester-lead-prem-rivals-to-sign-outstanding-burnley-star) that the Toffees, as well as Leicester and Wolves, were interested in signing the £30million rated playmaker, while more recent reports have also linked Manchester United and Crystal Palace as holding interest too.

McNeil broke onto the scene at Turf Moor last season, playing over 20 times in the Premier League, and he has gone on to feature in every one of the club’s league games this season, scoring once.

While Burnley are desperate to keep hold of the 20-year old versatile midfielder, Dyche has accepted that the club won’t be able to refuse a lucrative offer if his performances continue to attract attention.

As reported by [Mail Online](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-7780123/Manchester-United-target-Dwight-McNeil-leave-Burnley-future-Dyche.html), Dyche had this to say about the future of Burnley’s young star:

> Look, we know Dwight is a player who will certainly go beyond us – but in a positive way.
>
> We don’t remotely want to lose good players. But eventually some players will outgrow the club in the sense of a bigger club coming along and buying them because of their skill set.
>
> Dwight is clearly a top talent. He is playing and delivering every week.
>
> If he remains grounded and keeps the hard work ethic he’s got – and I’m sure he will do that – then his talent will continue to shine through.
>
> And we’re not naive enough to think it’s going to go un-noticed.

### Read Everton Verdict

It remains to be seen how interested Everton really are in McNeil at this point, but if they are, they face heavy competition.

£30million is a lot for a player of his calibre too, and while he may develop into a quality Premier League player, Everton have more important issues to address as things stand.

I do like McNeil though, and for a cheaper price tag he could be a solid acquisition, but at his current rate I don’t see how Everton could justify his signing.
