Everton 0-2 Norwich: Five things we learned

Everton slumped to defeat against Championship side Norwich City as the Toffees make an early exit from the EFL Cup.

Ronald Koeman made six changes from the side which beat Boro on the weekend, Tom Cleverley, Aaron Lennon, Enner Valencia, Ramiro Funes Mori, Mason Holgate and Gerard Deulofeu all making starts.

Former Everton forward Steven Naismith opened the scoring with a fortunate shot that looped Maarten Stekelenburg.

The Toffees had several chances throughout the game, none better than when the ball fell to Enner Valencia in the middle of the box. The striker volleyed towards the far post but Alex Pritchard was on the line to clear.

15 minutes from time Josh Murphy made it 2-0 with a brilliant run and an even better finish into the top corner, putting the game behind the Merseysiders.

Everton face Bournemouth at the weekend and will be looking to get back to winning ways as they remain in the hunt for European football.

So, let’s look at five things we learned this evening.

matchday.
