# Everton are in advanced talks with Ibrahimovic

Everton are in advanced negotiations to sign Zlatan Ibrahimovic, according to reports.

It had been reported a few weeks ago that the Toffees were interested in the Swedish striker, who is currently a free agent after leaving LA Galaxy recently, following the expiration of his contract.

Everton are in desperate need of a striker, with Cenk Tosun likely to leave in January and with Moise Kean having suffered a horror start to life on Merseyside.

[Now according to TuttoMercatoWeb](https://www.tuttomercatoweb.com/editoriale/ibrahimovic-vicino-all-everton-il-milan-lascia-o-raddoppia-ancelotti-ha-chiesto-alla-dirigenza-garanzie-lui-e-la-prima-l-inter-rivede-il-mercato-forse-1327429), Everton have entered talks ahead of potentially signing the 38-year old.

Carlo Ancelotti has been heavily tipped to become Everton manager later this week, and the Italian was believed to be very keen on reuniting with the striker at Napoli before he was sacked.

Ancelotti previously managed Zlatan at Paris Saint-Germain, and with his Everton announcement getting closer and closer, TuttoMercatoWeb claim that Ancelotti will demand certain guarantees over financial investment if he does commit himself to the club, the first of which is seeing the club land Zlatan.

The report claims that Ancelotti has specifically requested that Everton sign the forward, and while the club have begun talks, they have not yet made an offer that has met Zlatan’s requirements.

Ibrahimovic was previously linked with a return to Milan, although those reports have since gone cold, and TuttoMercatoWeb’s report clarifies that at this stage it does not seem as though Everton are being used as a negotiating tactic by Zlatan to get a better move elsewhere.

### Read Everton Verdict

Personally I think that Ibrahimovic could be exactly what Everton need on a short-term deal. Assuming that Marcel Brands signs off on any deal, and that the finances aren’t being overly stretched to accommodate him, then I don’t think the fact that he is 38-years old is much of a problem.

Ibrahimovic would only ever be a stop-gap solution, but one who brings genuine quality to a side who lack quality in the final third fairly often. He has still shown during his time in the MLS that he is fit, athletic and possesses quality on the ball, and I think he could offer Everton plenty.

He would also help the young strikers by passing on some wisdom, but most importantly, he is someone who could immediately come into the team and be relied upon to score goals, and he has prospered under Carlo Ancelotti before. For free, and presuming the finances are attainable, I think Everton should give him what he wants to get him to Goodison Park,
