# Everton are monitoring River Plate forward Rafael Santos Borre

Everton are monitoring River Plate striker Rafael Santos Borre, according to reports.

The 24-year old forward had emerged as a target for the club last month, [with reports claiming](https://readeverton.com/2019/11/27/everton-make-offer-for-river-plate-forward-borre/) that Everton had made an offer to the Colombia international.

However the story went cold when Borre’s agent, Hulmuth Weninng, [claimed that no offer had been made](https://readeverton.com/2019/11/28/borres-agent-dismisses-talk-of-an-everton-bid/), although he did admit that his client had received interest from clubs.

[Now AS report that Everton](https://en.as.com/en/2019/12/24/football/1577195293_409746.html) are again keen on the forward, as they look for striking reinforcements ahead of the January transfer window.

Atletico Madrid own 50% of his playing rights, and it is also believed that manager Diego Simeone is keeping tabs on Borre, ahead of bringing him to the Wanda Metropolitano.

Radio Continental (via AS) claim that Everton are prepared to offer €15million euros in order to land the forward, who has impressed in Argentina.

I still maintain the same thoughts about this story as I did the first time Borre was linked with Everton, and that is that it would be a huge gamble for the club.

Borre’s presence is European football has been very minimal, and South American football is a whole different ball game than the Premier League.

With Moise Kean and Dominic Calvert-Lewin set to remain at the club, Everton need someone else with a bit of experience and knowledge, not someone who is both young and inexperienced in Europe.
