# Everton boosted in race to sign Portugal international

Everton target William Carvalho is reportedly likely to make a move to the Premier League this summer.

According to claims from Portuguese news outlet [Record](https://www.record.pt/futebol/futebol-nacional/liga-nos/sporting/detalhe/everton-chama-por-william-carvalho.html), the midfielder is poised to make the switch to English football ahead of next season, with Everton named as the likely destination.

Record state that Carvalho is a name on Everton’s shortlist of transfer targets this summer, with an eagerly-anticipated exit from Sporting CP finally on the cards, it seems.

West Ham attempted to recruit Carvalho throughout last year’s summer transfer window but failed in their attempts as Sporting hung on to one of their prized assets.

However, a transfer could be likely this time around, as Everton look to strengthen their squad ahead of a crucial season in the Premier League.

The Toffees have been heavily linked with a move for Carvalho for some time now and it seems that they are currently at the front of the queue to secure the Portugal international’s signature.
