# Everton could sign Pellegrini in a cut-price deal due to release clause

Everton could land midfield target Lorenzo Pellegrini for as little as £13 million this summer, [according to Corriere dello Sport](https://www.corrieredellosport.it/news/calcio/serie-a/roma/2020/03/29-68325145/attenta_roma_in_tempo_di_crisi_pellegrini_e_la_clausola_fanno_gola_a_tutte_le_big/).

[Calciomercato](https://www.calciomercato.com/news/roma-pellegrini-il-rinnovo-non-e-scontato-la-situazione-58452) first referenced Everton’s interest in the Roma midfielder earlier this month, with Carlo Ancelotti said to be a fan of the Italy international.

Now Everton could have the opportunity to seal a deal for much cheaper than originally thought, with [Corriere dello Sport](https://www.corrieredellosport.it/news/calcio/serie-a/roma/2020/03/29-68325145/attenta_roma_in_tempo_di_crisi_pellegrini_e_la_clausola_fanno_gola_a_tutte_le_big/) revealing that Pellegrini’s release clause could allow the Blues to complete a less costly purchase this summer.

[The report claims](https://www.corrieredellosport.it/news/calcio/serie-a/roma/2020/03/29-68325145/attenta_roma_in_tempo_di_crisi_pellegrini_e_la_clausola_fanno_gola_a_tutte_le_big/) that Pellegrini’s £26 million release clause is able to be paid in two separate instalments of £13 million, that can be paid up to two years apart.

Described as one of [Europe’s top young midfielders](https://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2020/03/30/do-everton-can-reportedly-sign-one-of-europes-top-midfielders-fo/page/1/), Everton could land a real snip of a deal if they can bring Pellegrini to Goodison Park for as little as £13 million.

Playing primarily as an attacking midfielder this season, the 23-year-old has scored just three goals in all competitions, although he has assisted a further 11 ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.com/lorenzo-pellegrini/leistungsdaten/spieler/286297)). Conversely, [Gylfi Sigurdsson](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/gylfi-sigurdsson/leistungsdaten/spieler/90466) has scored just once, while he has only managed two assists in the Premier League.

It was reported in January that Ancelotti was [looking to sell the Iceland international](https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1225384/Everton-Gylfi-Sigurdsson-Carlo-Ancelotti-transfer-decision) in the summer, and with Pellegrini available and capable of replacing him, it could give the former Milan boss the impetus to shift the former Swansea man.
