# Everton don’t need reinforcements – Martinez

Roberto Martinez isn’t expecting major signings in the January transfer window and doesn’t think Everton need major reinforcements, [according to the Express.](https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/617172/Roberto-Martinez-downplays-chances-Everton-signing-reinforcements-January)

The Catalonian is renowned for not being a fan of the winter window as he doesn’t believe it represents good value for money, and judging by his recent comments he isn’t about to buck that trend.

“It will be very important for us to make sure that the window that is going to open in the winter is gives us a bit more normality,”

“(We may) look at the younger groups more than the first team level.

“We want to make sure we get a clear 10-month competition out of this squad, then it will be the summer when we reassess where we are and where we should go.

“We wouldn’t be looking to the winter as a moment to make significant changes.”

Martinez has made four signings in his two January transfer windows as Everton boss, in 2014 much-maligned winger Aiden Mcgeady joined from Spartak Moscow for a nominal fee while the mysterious Lacina Traore was loaned in from Monaco. Young Czech keeper Jindrich Stanek was also brought in on deadline day.

In 2015, Martinez brought Aaron Lennon in on a loan deal from Tottenham Hotspur, and after an industrious few months the former Leeds winger made the move from White Hart Lane to Goodison Park permanent in the summer for £4.5million.

The former Wigan boss also said Kevin Mirallas is going nowhere, after rumours that the 28-year-old was looking to leave the club.
