# Everton eye Gillingham goalkeeper Walsh

Everton are interested in signing Gillingham goalkeeper Joe Walsh, according to reports.

The Toffees will face heavy competition for the starlet’s signature, with a number of clubs also keeping tabs on the young shot-stopper.

Manchester City, Tottenham and Celtic, as well as RB Leipzig, are all said to be weighing up potential offers for the 17-year old, [according to the Evening Times](https://www.eveningtimes.co.uk/sport/18036120.celtic-keeping-tabs-young-gillingham-goalkeeper-joe-walsh/).

The report claims that Everton are also interested in the young goalkeeper, who recently signed his first professional contract with the League One club.

Walsh reportedly impressed Tottenham scouts after playing the full 90 minutes for Gillingham in their win over Tottenham’s Under-21s in the EFL Trophy this week, attracting their attention immediately.

Celtic have also watched the player regularly this season, which could see them more ready to make a move for the young talent.

Everton already have Joao Virginia as a young talent at Goodison Park, but you can never have too many promising youngsters ready to come through.

### Read Everton Verdict

As predicted, not much is known about Walsh, except that he is a talent that many clubs are interested in acquiring.

Everton are well stocked in the young talent department, but there is always room for more promising young players to come through.

For goalkeepers it is particularly tough to break through at a Premier League club, with Jordan Pickford only getting his break because of the dire situation at Sunderland at the time. Joao Virginia is currently struggling at Reading, it is a difficult path to breakthrough on.

However if Marcel Brands believes that Walsh has the requisite ability that can be tapped into, I hope the Blues go all out to land the youngster.
