# Everton eye La Liga defender Salisu

Everton are interested in Real Valladolid defender Mohammed Salisu, according to reports.

The 20-year centre-back has reportedly attracted attention from a number of sides this season, with Newcastle, Schalke and Sevilla all said to be keen on his signature.

Having broken through at the Estadio Jose Zorrilla this season, the Ghanian defender has been described as a ‘revelation’ for his performances during the current campaign, with Pucela Fichajes ([via Sport Witness](https://sportwitness.co.uk/everton-newcastle-united-interested-real-valladolid-revelation-e12m-buyout-clause/)) claiming that Everton are one of three clubs to have watched him on a number of occasions.

Salisu has a low buyout clause of just €12million, with Valladolid reportedly having no intention of negotiating that fee down, although the fee is more than acceptable for a club with Everton’s resources.

The Toffees are in desperate need of a new centre-back to reinforce their squad depth in that position, and Salisu would be a very affordable option.

Salisu has only just burst onto the scene at Valladolid this season, so it won’t be a surprise that he is a relatively unknown quantity as of right now.

The Ghanaian has earned a tidy reputation for himself though as a player who can go on to develop and become a major player in La Liga, which is understandable why Sevilla are interested in him.

It could be tough for Everton to convince the 20-year old if Sevilla shore up interest, with moving up on La Liga a promising prospect for Salisu, although Everton have the resources to make a very tempting offer if Marco Silva and Marcel Brands both give the go-ahead.
