# Everton fans don’t believe club can land Simeone

Several Everton fans don’t believe the club have any chance of landing potential Marco Silva successor Diego Simeone.

[We covered the story yesterday](https://readeverton.com/2019/12/04/everton-could-watch-simeone-situation-ahead-of-making-an-offer/) that detailed how the Atletico Madrid boss is close to leaving his post in the Spanish capital, and how the Toffees could potentially reignite their interest in his services.

The Blues were previously interested in the Argentine coach, but their interest alone was seen by many to be laughably optimistic, and rightly so in many ways.

Responding on social media, a number of Everton fans still feel that Everton are aiming a touch too high in their pursuit of the two-time Europa League winner.

### Read Everton Verdict

It does seem to be the obvious opinion to hold but of course I agree that Everton don’t stand a chance at landing Simeone. Should he leave Atletico, and that isn’t exactly a given, he’ll have plenty of clubs interested in his services who are better off than Everton right now.

Everton are a challenge for a new manager, and not many coaches will want to come into such a messy situation and try to fix it. It’s likely that Everton’s only real option is to appoint a fixer on a short-term deal, and Simeone isn’t that guy.
