# Everton fans frustrated with pundit praising Gana only once he leaves the club

Everton fans have been crying of media bias since the dawn of time, and at this point, it is increasingly more difficult to contest against them.

On many occasions, Everton players seem to have been overlooked in specific circumstances for no other reason than perhaps because they don’t play for a marketable team, one that can be shown off across sports news home pages.

While it can sometimes prove to be a hinderance for the club, other times it has no immediate impact on the club except to frustrate fans and diminish the relevance of one of England’s most prestigious football clubs.

Several Everton fans have identified the latest example of media bias, taking to Twitter on Wednesday night to vent their frustrations over the matter

Following PSG’s 3-0 win over Real Madrid, a game in which former Toffees midfielder Idrissa Gana Gueye started, starred in and assisted Angel di Maria’s second goal, Rio Ferdinand praised the midfielders performance.

Speaking as a pundit on [BT Sport, Ferdinand](https://twitter.com/btsportfootball/status/1174434212872708097) said about Gana’s performance:

> I’d seen him at Everton and thought he was a really good player, but he showed more tonight.
>
> He was comfortable, brought people into the game.
>
> It looked like he had been playing at this level for years.

Several Everton fans didn’t take lightly to what they perceived as a pundit only noticing a player’s ability once he left Goodison Park, calling Ferdinand out for anti-Everton bias online.

### Read Everton Verdict

I’ve said before that I think the sooner Everton fans forget about so-called media bias, the better. I’m not claiming that it is prevalent, because it most certainly is, but it won’t change and putting too much thought into it only causes frustration.

Gana has been playing at the very top level for years now, only he hasn’t been doing that in a top level team. His performances were always going to be more noticeable in a more public team, but it does frustrate when suggestions are made that PSG were the ones who allowed him to up his game.

At this point though, do you expect anything less? It won’t change, not unless Everton become a force to be reckoned with, and that is a very big if and when situation.
