# Everton fans have mixed reactions to Jorge Jesus interest

Everton fans have had a mixed response to reports linking the club with Flamengo boss Jorge Jesus.

[We reported yesterday](https://readeverton.com/2019/11/27/everton-eye-former-benfica-boss-jorge-jesus-to-replace-silva/) on the story that claims that the Toffees are reportedly eyeing the former Benfica manager if they do decide to sack Marco Silva, with the Portuguese coach now on borrowed time after a dreadful run of form.

Fresh from Flamengo’s first Copa Libertadores title success since 1981, Jesus has emerged as a prime candidate to replace the former Watford boss, as well as David Moyes and Eddie Howe.

The 65-year old coach had considerable success for Benfica during six year reign between 2009 and 2015, winning multiple league and cup titles, while also leading his side to two Europa League finals.

Responding to reports of Everton interest on social media, several fans expressed their thoughts on whether Jesus would be the right man to succeed Silva.

### Read Everton Verdict

You cannot question Jesus’s pedigree or the amount of silverware he has won in the past, so I think an evaluation of his credentials comes down to how he’d fit in at Everton.

While I don’t like the discussion of a foreign manager or a British manager, I do think that Everton could perhaps benefit from a more traditional coach with Premier League experience to shake things up at Goodison Park for the time being.

In the long-term, I was someone young, talented and hungry such as Ajax’s Erik ten Haag, but I don’t know if a coach like the Dutchman has the ability to reignite the fire in Everton, especially given their current slump.

As a proven winner, maybe Jesus has the ability to do that, but it would certainly be a massive risk for the club to take.
