# Everton fans have thoughts on transfer speculation concerning Paciencia interest

Many Everton fans have weighed in with their thoughts following the club’s reported interest in Eintracht Frankfurt striker Goncalo Paciencia.

[It was reported over the weekend](https://readeverton.com/2019/11/17/everton-consider-paciencia-a-priority-target-in-january/) that Everton are eyeing a January move for the Portugal international, with compatriot Marco Silva considering the 25-year old to be a priority target.

The Toffees have struggled for consistency up front this season, with none of Richarlison, Moise Kean, Cenk Tosun or Dominic Calvert-Lewin having established themselves as first-choice under Silva.

It had been reported that Paciencia would cost Everton around £20million if the club decided to shore up interest, while the player himself would likely be keen to join Silva’s side.

However, several fans were not so convinced by the transfer links, taking to Twitter to express their thoughts on the speculation.

Not all fans were negative about Paciencia’s potential arrival, with some erring on the positive side.

### Read Everton Verdict

Last time we covered this I wrote about how a striker just isn’t that important for Everton right now, and I largely stand by that.

Paciencia might be a less costly option, but do Everton need a new forward as a ‘priority signing’? The Toffees desperately need a centre-back and a defensive midfielder, and pursuing a forward just doesn’t seem necessary unless Cenk Tosun is making way.

If Silva is set on landing a forward, I’m happy to put my faith in his and Brands’ recruitment strategy, but I just can’t see the immediate need to do so right now.
