# Everton fans lament Silva’s choice of line-up against City

Everton have named a surprising line-up for their Premier League clash against Manchester City this evening, with Theo Walcott making his first league start of the season.

Many fans had been calling on the club to start with an attacking line-up against the reigning champions to take the game to them at Goodison Park, however Silva has gone somewhat more defensively.

Morgan Schneiderlin partners Fabian Delph, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin keeps his place up front after a brace in the Carabao Cup in midweek. Bernard misses out on the squad completely through illness.

Meanwhile Manchester City have dropped three heavy hitters to the bench, with none of David Silva, Bernardo Silva or Sergio Aguero in the starting eleven for the Sky Blues.

Raheem Sterling lines up alongside Riyad Mahrez and Gabriel Jesus to take on a back four which has remained unchanged, despite some unconfirmed claims on social media that Digne would be out through illness.

Several Everton fans have taken to Twitter to express their feelings on Everton’s team to face Pep Guardiola’s men.

### Read Everton Verdict

I’ve been labelled negative by some but I’m not sure how I’m meant to be positive with a line-up like that.

I’m not a fan of what Walcott supposedly brings to the team, and Schneiderlin is the wrong choice for this match. There is a lack of mobility in midfield, lack of clinical edge from Walcott and Calvert-Lewin is still not the sharpest spearhead.

Defensively, we’ll need to be reliant on some mammoth performances. Otherwise this could go very wrong very quickly.
