# Many Everton fans laud James Rodriguez’s performance in FA Cup

Another game, another masterclass – Everton fans will be familiar with this pattern after [James Rodriguez](https://readeverton.com/2021/01/19/envigado-president-fuming-everton-free-signing-james-rodriguez/) put in another fantastic showing for the Toffees.

The Colombian didn’t get on the scoresheet but he was able to [offer two assists](https://www.theguardian.com/football/live/2021/jan/24/everton-sheffield-wednesday-fa-cup-fourth-round-live) with a couple of well-taken set piece routines.

Richarlison and Yerry Mina were waiting to pounce off the back of Rodriguez’s venomous corners in goals which confirmed the Toffees’ place in the fifth round.

Everton will likely need Rodriguez’ playmaking abilities to ensure their cup run continues beyond their upcoming clash against either Wycombe or Tottenham, but Toffees fans have every right to focus on the plaudits earned by their summer signing earned.

Everton fans voted Rodriguez as their [man of the match](https://twitter.com/Everton/status/1353467463900475396) against Sheffield Wednesday, having notched up some impressive statistics. Aside from the two assists, Rodriguez [offered](https://twitter.com/Everton/status/1353467463900475396) eight key passes, 93 touches and a passing success rate of 85%.

The Colombian was evidently a key element of creative influence for Ancelotti’s side, which didn’t go unnoticed by many Merseysiders. Since Rodriguez signed on a [free transfer](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/james-rodriguez/profil/spieler/88103) from Real Madrid, he has [three goals and seven assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/james-rodriguez/profil/spieler/88103) to his name this season.

As the club [flaunted](https://twitter.com/Everton/status/1353467463900475396) Rodriguez’ creative credentials on Twitter, these Everton fans were quick to heap praise upon their “immense” playmaker…
