# Some Everton fans have split opinions over Josh King signing

Everton fans – rest easy! The Toffees have secured further attacking reinforcements on Deadline Day with [Josh King](https://readeverton.com/2021/01/18/everton-must-avoid-josh-king-deal-high-wages/)arriving at Goodison Park late on Monday.

A deal for the 29-year-old Norwegian international was not confirmed until the early hours of Tuesday morning, but Everton fans will be nonetheless relieved.

It was a nervy wait for Everton fans to see if they would bring in any new talent.

The Toffees[missed out](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-9211657/Serie-strugglers-Parma-sign-Bayern-Munich-teenager-Joshua-Zirkzee-breakthrough-season.html)on top transfer target [Joshua Zirkzee](https://readeverton.com/2021/01/28/joshua-zirkzee-everton-parma-transfer-latest/) after the Dutch youngster put pen to paper on a loan deal with Serie A side Parma – seemingly scuppering hopes of any incomings.

The Toffees had been exploring the possibilities of bringing Zirkzee to Goodison Park on an [initial loan deal](https://readeverton.com/2021/01/28/joshua-zirkzee-everton-parma-transfer-latest/) with an option to buy the player but could not offer the same regular game time as Parma.

Although links with Josh King as a striking option were [once rife](https://readeverton.com/2021/01/18/everton-must-avoid-josh-king-deal-high-wages/), the rumours of Everton’s interest had died down somewhat by the opening of the January transfer window.

[Confirmed at 1am](https://twitter.com/Everton/status/1356407352799485953) through the club’s official Twitter account, Everton [cryptically claimed](https://www.evertonfc.com/news/2008105/king-signs-for-everton) that Josh King was signed for a ‘nominal fee’.

Understandably, such late business was a major source of intrigue for Everton fans – but not all were convinced he was a necessary signing for the club…
