# Everton fans reflect on Goodison Park with Bramley Moore move ever closer

With progress on Everton’s eventual move to Bramley Moore Docks moving further and further along every month, it would be remiss of fans to not relish their remaining time at Goodison Park.

Everton have played at Goodison since 1892, after they left Anfield following a dispute over rent payment. Since then, the ground has seen more top flight football than any stadium in the country, and is the only stadium in the country to have hosted a World Cup semi-final.

With Everton harbouring grand ambition to continue improving as both a football club and as a marketable business with a strong brand, the Toffees need a bigger and shinier place to call home, which means The Grand Old Lady will soon be left behind.

Sports journalist Arlo White has reminded Everton fans to treasure what they have while they have it. In a [Twitter video from Premier League USA](https://twitter.com/PLinUSA/status/1169277302980718592), White compares the historic and rustic styled Wrigley Field baseball stadium to Goodison Park, and reminded Everton fans that it won’t be there forever so they should enjoy it.

Several Everton fans took to Twitter, hailing the ground and claiming it to be as big as part of Everton’s history as anything else.

American fan [@mhulfachor](https://twitter.com/mhulfachor/status/1169444113084801025) said: “This is part of the reason I chose to support Everton in 2013- when I knew nothing about football- just saw a club with a brilliant old ground and history (like the Cubs), developed their own players (like the Cubs/Colts) and hated anything Red. Didn’t hurt we were boss in 13/14.”

[@edbethinking](https://twitter.com/edbethinking/status/1169417510468431873) said: “Fenway Park is very similar as well. Can’t get that “stepping back into time” feel except for Wrigley/Fenway for American baseball. I hope to get to Goodison before they move!”

### Read Everton Verdict

It’s always poignant to look back in reflection at something that was possible taken for granted for a long time. Goodison Park is such a key part of Everton’s DNA, and of course it will be tough to let her go.

But we’re moving on to bigger and better things. So long as Everton nail everything from the atmosphere to the design of Bramley Moore, and Dan Meis’ designs already look amazing, then we can look forward to a new era away from Goodison.
