# Everton fans respond to heartfelt video message from Andre Gomes

Andre Gomes has posted a heartfelt video message on social media, thanking fans for supporting him and sending him positive energy following his devastating injury.

The Portugal international suffered a fractured dislocation of his right ankle against Tottenham on Sunday after getting his boot stuck in the Goodison Park turf during a collision involved Heung-min Son and Serge Aurier.

The 26-year looked to be in some anguish as his foot was twisted in a horrible direction, and the midfielder was immediately taken to hospital to undergo surgery, a process that was successful with Gomes now back home.

It is expected that Gomes will be unavailable for any amount of time between six months and a year, although with an injury as severe as his, he could potentially miss the entire of 2020 in the worse case scenario.

[Taking to Twitter](https://twitter.com/aftgomes/status/1192151838503718912) and Instagram, Gomes thanked his fans for offering up their commiserations following his season-ending injury, saying:

> Hi everyone. As you already know, everything \[surgery\] went well.
>
> I’m already at home with my family and I’d like to thank you all for the support, the messages and the positive energy. Thank you.

Gomes appeared to be a little emotional in the video, prompting many fans to offer an outpour of further support to the midfielder.

### Read Everton Verdict

There is little more that I can say here except that I wish for Andre Gomes a speedy and healthy recovery.

Gomes seemed a touch emotional in that video, which makes me wish someone could give him a hug. I’m glad he’s home with his family around him, and hopefully the Everton fan base can keep sending him the support he needs.
