# Everton handed Ancelotti boost as Arsenal target Pereira

Arsenal could now be set to turn to Vitor Pereira in their search for a new manager, giving Everton a boost in their pursuit of Carlo Ancelotti, according to reports.

The Portuguese coach had been one of Everton’s top targets to replace Marco Silva, however after his current club Shanghai SIPG made an offer with a huge financial increase in order to keep him in China.

However, [Diario de Noticias now claim](https://www.dn.pt/desportos/vitor-pereira-tem-proposta-para-treinar-o-arsenal-11606431.html) that Arsenal have entered the running, with Pereira set to choose between remaining in Shanghai or moving to London in the coming days.

Everton ultimately weren’t a big enough pull to tempt Pereira away from a £405k-a-week contract in China, but the former Porto boss is said to be more open to moving to the Emirates.

This will be a boost to Everton, who have set their sights on appointing recently sacked Napoli coach Carlo Ancelotti, a manager who Arsenal were also said to be keen on.

Should the Gunners press on with their interest in Pereira, it would leave Everton in prime position to bring Ancelotti back to the Premier League.

### Read Everton Verdict

It rarely works out so simply, but if Arsenal did land Pereira and Everton got Ancelotti, then I think that Everton will have done extremely well from that situation.

Pereira was hardly a fan favourite choice to succeed Silva at Goodison Park, but three-time Champions League winner Ancelotti has been received much better by a majority of the fan base.

It still remains to be seen whether Ancelotti would be willing to join a club in disarray, but Farhad Moshiri’s project could still be considered an attractive prospect to a prospective coach looking for a way back into England’s top flight.
