# Everton join transfer race for Adam Armstrong

[Everton](https://readeverton.com/2021/02/06/everton-predicted-xi-man-united-away/) and Fulham have joined West Ham in the race for Blackburn Rovers marksman [Adam Armstrong](https://readwestham.com/2021/02/01/tony-mowbray-discusses-lack-of-offers-for-west-ham-target-adam-armstrong/), who is currently enjoying a prolific spell of form in the Championship.

The [Newcastle United academy product](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/adam-armstrong/profil/spieler/250426) is unsurprisingly a man in demand as one of the leading scorers in the second tier, his tally [surpassed only by Ivan Toney](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/championship/startseite/wettbewerb/GB2) of Brentford.

The Tyneside-born marksman already has [18 goals to his name](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/adam-armstrong/profil/spieler/250426) this season and the [latest reports](https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/13969813/west-ham-blackburn-armstrong-transfer/) have indicated that West Ham were close to lodging an £8m bid for the home-grown forward in January.

The Hammers are not the only suitors for his signature; Everton now appear to be firmly in the hunt for the 23-year-old’s services in a bid to rejuvenate their forward options. [It is claimed](https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/13969813/west-ham-blackburn-armstrong-transfer/) that Blackburn would be ready to sanction a sale if they fail to achieve promotion to the Premier League this season.

The Toffees already boast the likes of Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison as centre-forward options, whilst the deeper-lying Joshua King [joined on transfer deadline day](https://www.evertonfc.com/news/2008105/king-signs-for-everton) for a ‘nominal fee’.

### Read Everton Verdict

With King only signing on an [initial six-month deal,](https://www.evertonfc.com/news/2008105/king-signs-for-everton) it will be up to all parties to review whether keeping the 29-year-old at Goodison Park for longer is a deal worth executing.

If the Toffees end up releasing the Norwegian, Armstrong could be an affordable home-grown option to come in as an instant replacement. Aside from a natural goal-scoring instinct, the 23-year-old is noted for his [nimble movement](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/136460/Show/Adam-Armstrong) and good agility which makes him a more pacey option than Calvert-Lewin, who functions more as a target man.

In that sense, Blackburn failing to achieve promotion in May could be an opportune moment for Everton to strengthen.
