# Everton keeping an eye on Toulouse star

Everton are reportedly keeping an eye on Toulouse centre-back Issa Diop.

It’s claimed by L’Equipe, as translated by [Sport Witness](https://sportwitness.co.uk/everton-crystal-palace-interested-french-clubs-captain-21/), that the Toffees have been keeping tabs on the defender in recent months.

Diop has emerged as one of Ligue 1’s brightest talents, establishing himself as a key man for Toulouse. His consistency and impressive performances have attracted several clubs ahead of next season and Everton are seemingly keen.

The 21-year-old’s form also earned him the role as Toulouse’s captain; an impressive feat for a player of such tender age.

Everton will be desperate to bolster their defensive ranks this summer after a season of suspect performances throughout last season. Diop would undoubtedly add additional quality to the defence, so it comes as no surprise to see the Toffees linked with a move.

However, they may be forced to fend off competition from elsewhere. It’s stated in the report that Crystal Palace are also attentive to Diop’s situation at Toulouse.
