# Everton leading the race to sign Keane

According to an exclusive report this evening from the [Daily Mail](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-4077434/Everton-favourites-sign-Burnley-defender-Michael-Keane-summer.html?ITO=1490&ns_mchannel=rss&ns_campaign=1490), Everton are leading the race to sign Burnley defender Michael Keane.

The 23-year-old has been superb at the back for The Clarets and interest has been mounting from opposition clubs after a string of impressive displays in Sean Dyche’s side.

Keane is claimed in the report to be looking for a way out of Turf Moor when the summer transfer window comes around, with the former Manchester United academy graduate not looking to extend his current deal with the newly-promoted side.

Everton are in desperate need to some fresh blood in the defensive ranks given the increasingly ageing options at Ronald Koeman’s disposal and it looks as though Keane is right up at the top of his list.

Chelsea are also looking to make their move for Keane but if the young central defender is looking to secure first-team football, he may look towards Everton for a new challenge.
