# Everton make contact with Pochettino over vacant position

Everton have made an approach to Mauricio Pochettino to become the club’s next manager, according to reports.

The Argentine coach was relieved of his duties at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last month after Spurs had kicked off the new season in terrible form.

Pochettino’s sacking was still seen by many as a surprising decision by Spurs chairman Daniel Levy, despite the club’s poor Premier League performances, with it being less than a year since he led the London club to a Champions League final.

The 47-year old has been tipped to take over whichever job he wants in Europe, with his reputation as one of the best coaches in world football sure to aid him in his search for a new club.

[According to The Times](https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/carlo-ancelotti-on-evertons-shortlist-to-replace-marco-silva-g078xptt0), Everton have made contact with the former Southampton boss over taking over the vacant position at Goodison Park, following Marco Silva’s sacking.

Many Everton fans reacted to the news on social media, with several feeling that the club have no chance of landing the highly regarded coach, while some credited the board for showing ambition.

### Read Everton Verdict

To go from David Moyes to Mauricio Pochettino would really be quite the story, but alas, I side with many other Evertonians in that I cannot see anything coming to fruition here.

Pochettino is easily the best manager available on the free market right now, and with so many elite clubs potentially looking for a new boss, Pochettino has so many clubs that are bigger, better and have deeper pockets than Everton to choose from.

It is a nice fantasy, and it would be the shock of the century, but I just can’t see any way that this pans out for the Blues.
