# Everton must get rid of Tom Davies

[Everton](https://readeverton.com/) saw several players move out of the club since the end of their previous Premier League season.

Specifically, the Merseyside club saw [players](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fc-everton/transfers/verein/29) leave on free transfers such as Cenk Tosun and Jonjoe Kenny, as well as some leaving on loan deals such as Andre Gomes, Dele Alli and Jean-Philippe Gbamin.

Looking ahead to the future, one figure in Frank Lampard’s squad that we feel the club and the manager should look to move out is Tom Davies.

As a [product](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/tom-davies/transfers/spieler/314210) of Everton’s youth system, the midfielder has made [164](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/tom-davies/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/314210) senior appearances for the Toffees across all competitions, chipping in with seven goals and eight assists along the way.

Back in November last year, the [£25k-per-week](https://fbref.com/en/squads/d3fd31cc/2022-2023/wages/Everton-Wage-Details) Englishman picked up a knee [injury](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/tom-davies/verletzungen/spieler/314210) that kept him out of action until June.

Even when he did get a chance to play, he didn’t do much to prove why he deserves to be a regular first-team figure for the club as his performances last season earned him a rather uninspiring overall rating of 6.22/10, making him one of the lowest-rated Everton player that started more than one league game according to [WhoScored](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/31/Archive/England-Everton).

Despite appearing in [five](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/tom-davies/leistungsdaten/spieler/314210) of Everton’s six league games in this campaign, the 24-year-old has still not been able to show Lampard that he’s good enough to play there long-term.

For example, with 103 passes attempted, only 77 of them were accurate, leaving 10 other Toffees players with a higher passing accuracy percentage than Davies ([74.8%](https://fbref.com/en/squads/d3fd31cc/Everton-Stats)), who has been [labelled](https://twitter.com/thebullensview/status/1440755482876993543?s=20&t=l_ugj0sjSHuIe-9bRW5mlw) as an “extremely poor” player in the past by Lee McClean.

Then from an attacking point of view, having made [five](https://fbref.com/en/squads/d3fd31cc/Everton-Stats) attempts at goal, none of them have been on target.

Bearing in mind how the Goodison Park outfit brought in [two](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fc-everton/transfers/verein/29) young midfielders over the summer in the shape of Amadou Onana and James Garner, this suggests that those are two players they see as long-term options for them, rather than Davies.

With all of that in mind and the fact that his current [contract](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/tom-davies/profil/spieler/314210) is set to expire in the summer, we feel that it should be one of Lampard’s priorities to get the midfielder out of the club whenever possible.
