# Everton news: Moyes uncertainty, transfer interest and £66.4m claim

**[Everton](https://readeverton.com/?utm_source=chatgpt.com) manager David Moyes was at the centre of speculation on Tuesday as questions continued over his future and the ownership of the club.**

The Blues were also linked with potential transfer targets, James Tarkowski spoke about the club’s prospects and BBC Sport analysis calculated a potential £66.4m financial impact on Everton during the period covered by Manchester City’s financial breaches.

## Moyes future discussed amid ownership uncertainty

Moyes has [emerged as a reported Celtic target](https://readeverton.com/david-moyes-celtic-target-everton-future/?utm_source=chatgpt.com) ahead of next season, with journalist Alan Nixon reporting that the Scottish club are keeping an eye on his situation.

His future has also been discussed in connection with a possible change of ownership at Everton. TEAMtalk reports that [no formal decision has been made over Moyes’ long-term position](https://readeverton.com/david-moyes-everton-future-takeover-speculation/?utm_source=chatgpt.com).

Amanda Staveley and PCP Capital Partners have held informal discussions over a possible takeover, according to the report, with Eddie Howe mentioned as an option if Staveley completed a deal and decided to change manager. There has been no reported approach to Howe.

Moyes returned to Everton in January 2025 and his contract runs until next summer.

## Everton linked with Kofane and Sucic

Everton are reportedly [considering another move for Bayer Leverkusen striker Christian Kofane](https://readeverton.com/everton-christian-kofane-transfer-january/?utm_source=chatgpt.com) after trying to sign him during the summer.

Leverkusen blocked the 20-year-old’s departure and are expected to resist approaches in January. Kofane is currently sidelined with a thigh muscle injury and has scored three goals in six appearances this season.

Everton have also previously tried to sign [Inter Milan midfielder Petar Sučić](https://readeverton.com/everton-petar-sucic-inter-transfer/?utm_source=chatgpt.com). Inter reportedly rejected approaches from Everton and Newcastle United for the Croatia international, whose playing time has since been discussed in Italy.

There is no indication that Everton have made a fresh approach for Sučić ahead of January.

## Tarkowski talks up Everton

Captain James Tarkowski believes [Everton remain one of the biggest clubs in the country](https://readeverton.com/james-tarkowski-big-everton-claim-moyes/?utm_source=chatgpt.com), pointing to the club’s new stadium, Moyes’ experience and the balance of the squad.

“I think Everton are one of the biggest clubs in the country,” Tarkowski told the Liverpool Echo.

“We’ve got an exceptional stadium, a manager who is one of the most experienced managers in the game and quality side with a lot of young and experienced players too.”

Everton have taken 10 points from their opening six Premier League games and are yet to lose.

## BBC analysis puts Everton figure at £66.4m

BBC Sport analysis calculated that [Everton could have missed out on £66.4m](https://readeverton.com/everton-66m-man-city-financial-impact/?utm_source=chatgpt.com) during the period covered by Manchester City’s financial breaches.

The figure includes £32.6m relating to potential Champions League income, £23.2m from four seasons in which Everton finished one place below the final Europa League qualification position and £10.6m in Premier League merit payments.

The analysis does not suggest Everton are owed £66.4m or that they would definitely have qualified for Europe. Manchester City have appealed against the independent commission’s findings and no sanction has yet been imposed.

## Chelsea next for unbeaten Everton

Everton return to the Hill Dickinson Stadium against Chelsea on Saturday after extending their unbeaten Premier League start with a 2-2 draw at Hull City.

Moyes described that performance as “very, very poor” despite goals from Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Thierno Barry. Everton have 10 points from six league games and remain unbeaten in eight matches in all competitions.

The [Everton fixtures and results tracker](https://readeverton.com/everton-fixtures-results-2026-27/?utm_source=chatgpt.com) has the full schedule ahead of Saturday’s 12.30pm kick-off.
