# Everton news & talking points — Wednesday, August 5, 2026

**Six big Everton news stories out of the traps today, and the golden thread is a squad still being shaped on three fronts at once: attack, midfield and right-back. Here’s everything that ran, in order, with sourcing.**

## [Everton agree personal terms with Yilmaz – Reports](https://readeverton.com/2026/08/05/everton-baris-alper-yilmaz-personal-terms-agreed/)

Personal terms are in place with Galatasaray winger Baris Alper Yilmaz, who turned down Saudi interest to push for the move. Everton’s opening £35m bid was knocked back, with Galatasaray valuing him closer to €50m — a second offer is expected. **Source:** Turkish journalist [Yagiz Sabuncuoglu](https://x.com/yagosabuncuoglu) (via X)

## [Everton join Crystal Palace in Fofana pursuit](https://readeverton.com/2026/08/05/everton-youssouf-fofana-ac-milan-transfer/)

Everton have entered the race for AC Milan’s Youssouf Fofana (\~€20m asking price), with Palace seen as further advanced. Central midfield remains a priority area after Gueye’s exit and uncertainty around Iroegbunam, Alcaraz and Armstrong. **Source:** Daniele Longo; player background via [Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/youssouf-fofana/profil/spieler/569598)

## [Toffees set to lose out on Molina as Roma swoop](https://readeverton.com/2026/08/05/everton-nahuel-molina-roma-transfer/)

Nahuel Molina is closing in on Roma in a club-to-club deal worth €13m plus €4m in add-ons — effectively ending Everton’s interest in the Atletico right-back. Focus reverts to Alistair Johnston as the primary target. **Source:** Fabrizio Romano

## [Everton see reported £30m Jonathan Rowe bid rejected by Bologna](https://readeverton.com/2026/08/05/everton-jonathan-rowe-bid-rejected-bologna-transfer/)

A reported £30m offer for Bologna winger Jonathan Rowe has been turned down, though the figure signals the level of investment Moyes is prepared to make for attacking reinforcements. Jacob Murphy also named as an alternative under consideration. **Source:** Nicolò Schira (via [X](https://x.com/NicoSchira/status/2084946926558978153?s=20)); player background via [Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jonathan-rowe/profil/spieler/672381)

## [Arsenal interest emerges as Everton face fresh Iliman Ndiaye uncertainty](https://readeverton.com/2026/08/05/everton-iliman-ndiaye-arsenal-transfer-interest-al-hilal/)

Arsenal have made an enquiry over Ndiaye, adding a complication to Everton’s retention hopes — though Al Hilal remain the bigger threat. Ndiaye has rejected a new contract proposal “for now.” **Source:** Ben Jacobs

## [Everton set to continue with specialist set-piece coach for new season](https://readeverton.com/2026/08/05/everton-set-piece-coach-dave-reddington-david-moyes/)

**Today’s summary:** one deal edging closer (Yilmaz), two closing doors (Molina, Rowe), one fresh complication (Ndiaye/Arsenal), one new midfield name (Fofana), and a coaching-staff line to break up the transfer churn.
