# Everton pursuing Genk star

**Everton are interested in signing Genk defender Kara Mbodj, according to Belgian website Footgoal.**

The 25-year-old has expressed his desire to leave the Belgian club and has set his sights on a move to England.

Mbodj, who can play at centre-half or in defensive midfield, is also attracting interest from Tottenham,West Ham United and Leicester City, with all willing to pay his £8million price tag.

Anderlecht were also interested in Mbodj but were priced out of a potential move.

Everton are looking for central defensive cover for John Stones and Phil Jagielka after releasing experienced duo Sylvain Distin and Antolin Alcaraz and have been linked with Mbodj at various times during the summer.

The Merseysiders are also rumoured to be interested in Virgil Van Dijk and Jonny Evans, as Roberto Martinez looks to strengthen his squad for the upcoming campaign.

Young starlet Brendan Galloway looks set to stay at the club and be part of the first-team set-up, Martinez had originally planned to loan the 19-year-old out to a Championship club but has been impressed with the centre-half’s performance during pre-season.
