# Everton target Iturbe

According to Italian publication [Gazzetta dello Sport](https://www.football-italia.net/71534/everton-west-ham-want-iturbe?), Everton are now in talks to sign Juan Manuel Iturbe after cooling their interest in Andriy Yarmolenko.

Both the Blues and West Ham are interested in bringing the AS Roma winger to England, but the club from the Italian capital would rather offload Gervinho after a less than impressive performance in their opening game against Verona.

According to the article, Walter Sabatini is in London to discuss the transfer due to the arrival of Mohamed Salah limiting both Iturbe and Gervinho’s playing time.

The pacy winger would certainly bring threat to the Merseysiders’ attack as well as great dribbling ability but it seems that Yarmolenko is still seen as a top target despite the club threatening to pull out of a deal.

Everton have been chasing Yarmolenko for the past couple of weeks but have found negotiations difficult due to the Dynamo Kyiv owner’s reluctance to sell. The player had been promised a move to further his career but reports in Ukraine today claim that Yarmolenko is to be offered a new contract as a last throw of the dice to keep their star man.

Yarmolenko himself had stated earlier in the summer that it was time for him to move on- news which saw Liverpool and Spurs also linked with the winger.

With this news it looks set to be a busy week for Everton, with the transfer window slamming shut in only a weeks time and yet to sign a new creative midfielder which Martinez has been targeting all summer.

**ITURBE UPDATE (25/08): Italian site Il Tempo reports that Iturbe’s agent is in London, mulling over a loan offer from Everton. The Argentian international is also being courted by Serie A sides Fiorentina and Genoa.**
