# Everton targeting Burnley defender Michael Keane

Everton are considering a move for Burnley defender Michael Keane this January, according to a recent report from [The Mirror](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/everton-boss-ronald-koeman-joins-9387380).

Keane has been in good form for The Clarets this season, standing out in their defence and showing his quality in the top flight after a superb season in the Championship last year.

The youngster was called up to Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the first time ever not so long ago and he’ll hope to continue earning international recognition.

However, he’s currently part of a struggling Burnley side that have lost three on the bounce and with speculation rife surrounding Keane’s future, they may struggle to keep hold of their prized asset in the January transfer window.

The report claims that Everton are joined by Chelsea and Leicester in their pursuit of the young defender, with all three Premier League clubs impressed by the former Manchester United man’s quality and maturity at this level.
