# Everton v Stoke – Player Ratings.

A lucky goal, but a deserved one.

Everton pulled through in the end against a gritty Stoke team that killed all creativity in the game.

A penalty early in the second half proved the difference as Leighton Baines was back where he belongs. The penalty, granted, was fortunate but the performance warranted a goal – and maybe more- as Everton dominated the game against what seemed like 12 men as Michael Oliver lost control of the game very early on, and seemed lost.

There were many stand out performers today, as Ronald Koeman recorded his first home League win. Maarten Stekelenburg proved once again why he’ll be number one between the sticks this season with another stunning save and all around confident performance, while the brilliant Mason Holgate looked assured once again as he looks to oust Séamus Coleman from the Right Back spot. Idrissa Gueye ran the midfield, as expected, and was everywhere as he hounded and hurried the game onwards.

So, let’s have a look at the final ratings and my MOTM for the game…
