# Everton want free agent Ebiowei – is he the right fit for the club?

Everton are one of several Premier League sides considering making an offer to sign Malcolm Ebiowei on a free transfer, according to reports.

The England Under-16s international was recently released by Arsenal, and now [All Nigeria Soccer](https://www.allnigeriasoccer.com/read_news.php?nid=33926) claim that the highly rated talent is interesting the Toffees.

Manchester United and Manchester City are both said to be interested too, while the player’s parents would prefer he move abroad in search of a more direct route to first-team football in the future.

Despite making his debut for Arsenal’s Under-18s in August, it is reported by ANS that the Gunners decided not to offer Ebiowei a scholarship due to attitude and work ethic issues.

While United are tipped to be leading the chase, Everton could hope that a bigger chance of eventual first-team football could sway the young midfielder.

### Read Everton Verdict

First and foremost, if Everton are truly interested in signing the starlet, they need to be doing their research on why Arsenal decided against doing so. Moshiri should get on the phone with the Arsenal board and find out exactly why, if at all possible.

The Toffees do not need to sign a talented young player whose attitude could be disruptive or problematic. There are plenty of talented players out there who want to learn and improve, and the club shouldn’t waste time on those who have issues with working hard.

That being said, maybe that part of the story is exaggerated, or Arsenal’s response was overly sensitive. Basically, Everton need to put in the research before making a decision. If the info comes back okay, then push ahead with a deal.
