# Everton want to sign Croatian star this summer

Everton are interested in signing Croatian defender Luka Bogdan when the transfer window opens, according to [reports in Italy](https://www.tuttomercatoweb.com/serie-c/esclusiva-tmw-catania-per-bogdan-arrivano-le-attenzioni-dell-everton-1090276).

Bogdan is currently on the books of Catania, a side in the third tier of Italian football, but Steve Walsh has reportedly been keeping a close eye on the 21-year-old defender’s development having spotted him playing for Croatia’s Under-19s, alongside Everton winger Nikola Vlasic.

Everton have major question marks in defence as Ashley Williams and Phil Jagielka move towards the end of their respective careers and having a younger player waiting in the wings would made sense.

Bogan is a big, physical presence, standing at 6ft 5in, and he would likely jump at the chance of a move to Goodison Park if the Blues made their interest known.

The matter of a transfer fee shouldn’t be a huge issue as Catania wouldn’t be asking for too much for Bogdan, so time will tell if the Blues make an offer.
